Vintage / Classic cars update November 2023
Revenue are getting much more strict around the importaion of vintage cars which qualify for zero duty but do attract 23% VAT
To qualify it must be the following
1/ more than 30 years since manufacture
2/not still in production , it is important that you have the correct edition number and be able to prove this particular model is no longer in production
3/ It can not have been altered in any way since production other than necessary repairs
If the engine has been replaced , differnt type of tyres put on, repainted a differnt colour or the interior seats or steering wheel altered this will not pass as vintage and 10% duty will apply
